Marriage not dating dramabeans ep 7

He's not at all rival worthy!!! I wish they'd show more Jangmi and Gitae scenes! As usual, I agree with everything you say and I even teared up a little because I am so happy that the writing is just so brilliant. Like, I have been so disappointed those past few months by KDramaland and here I am, breathing again ; Seriously, I am a little bit overreacting but I just really love the drama. You expect something and then, BAAM, it's something totally unexpected. You ain't getting bored at all.

I am always anxious when I click on the next part because I know the episode is going to end soon and that I would have to wait the next day or next week. I am so freakin' addicted and I know it's not sane at all XD. Yeon Woo Jin is doing such a good job. His expressions are seriously the best. The way he expressed his feelings through his eyes, it's just so wonderful. This role was really meant for him. He is just so adorable when he couldn't stop starring at Jang Mi's lips. No words for Jang Mi. That girl is so amazing that I just can't anymore. I so love her.

When she "threatened" Mom that the Gong family will end if she keeps bothering them. Even if the drama isn't finished, she became one of my favorite female character along with Cha Yoon Hee of Unexpected You. Those women are so badass! Han Groo was also meant for that role. I can't just see anyone else and it just shows how good she is. GAH, their chemistry is killing me! It's like, you just need to put those two in the same room and explosion because it's so hot lol.

There aren't lots of OTP which make me feel like this. The most recent one gotta be Chiaki and Nodame of Nodame Cantabile. And no words for Se Ah. She is so cray cray, it's not sane at all for her and everyone else. I gotta admit that Sunhwa is doing a good job! I didn't really like her in God's Gift but here, she is shining. Well, burning because she is the devil XD. I understand the appeal of Yeo Rum on paper - he's the easy dating option, no family hassle and he's cute - but what I'm seeing on screen is this shallow guy who uses a tragic backstory to get his own way and worse for a TV show he has no chemistry with his love interest Jang Mi.

The actor isn't good enough to add layers when the writing isn't doing him any favours. He's not sympathetic nor is he your typical self sacrificing second lead. He comes across as a user, one who has no friends and personality switches into a male Jang Mi in an attempt to get KT to like him. Not because he's desperate to be liked but because he thinks it's his best shot at bunking at KT's place for a while. I love the one line zingers that KT says! In this episode paraphrased - when he said is there a confession where the girl is called a fool, then the one about only people who want to look good cook pasta, then when he asked YR are you Jesus when he suggested the soup left is enough for a good meal for 3 people.

So funny and witty, cutting but has not crossed the line into just flat out insulting. Hope they keep lines like these going! No offense, but I think a lot of people who are saying that the actors portraying Yeo-reum and Hoon-dong are terrible at acting simply don't get it due to a cultural difference They aren't bad actors, they're simply portraying their character. Hoon-dong's isn't perhaps the most realistic- no-one in real life flails about like that when throwing a tantrum, etc. Yeo-reum is supposed to be this enigmatic character who's a bit shifty and closed off, so the actor isn't doing poorly at all- that's just the way his character is.

He's a pretty boy, he knows it, and his smiles are meant to be ambiguous, like a distraction. That said, I'm really loving this drama so far. I adore that the male lead is the one who falls for the heroine first. And I know jealousy isn't pretty, if it leads to wrist grabs and forceful kissing, stalking, etc. In any drama, period. I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a sadist, but I'm enjoying the love triangle and I hope that his jealousy and angst continues for a bit more.

Of course I love Ki Tae and Jang Mi together and I want them to end up together at the end, but I don't hate Yeo-reum for "keeping the OTP apart," because I can see why she's attracted to him and of course, as I mentioned before, Ki Tae's jealousy and angst is so satisfying to me as a viewer.

I must reiterate how much I love your recaps. I enjoy watching this show immensely but I always tune in to your comments on each episode after watching it because it links up themes and little motifs that I either don't notice in all the excitement or notice but didn't fully appreciate until you bring attention to them and analyse them so brilliantly. Once again many thanks. And I'm not sure where to request this, but is there any chance you'll be reviewing the new film Miss Granny? I enjoyed the movie immensely and would love to read your take on it: I don't get it, why is she going through all this for him?

For her parents that's not a good reason. At the start it was to get back at her ex, then for her parents since they started talking because of her "engagement. I reference you to a kitchen discussion where she talks about GT sideways and says, she thought she knew him, and pouts and so on. I believe it was in the typhoon episode before she ate the typhoon food. She said that she liked GT, etc and that he wouldn't realize her existence, but she's being foolish and then YR was listening to her go on about GT and then she ate the typhoon food, he kissed her and at some point she decided to give up GT.

She's been shaking her feelings since then, and decided to devote herself to YR. I think that JM realised that she has some kind of feelings for GT, but she isn't quite sure what to make of that. I don't think she likes him romantically yet, but she does care about him, and he is someone she feels, in an unexpected way, close to. So she likes him, but not in that way. That's my interpretation, but I'm going to watch that scene again and see if I see what you see.

I don't remember the conversation exactly, but my takeaway was that she said Ki-tae gets under her skin and she worries about him being so alone, but that she's romantically interested in YR. I think YR picked up on Jang-mi's worry as having a deeper root than just a platonic friendly thing, but I don't think Jang-mi was aware of her feelings. I just don't think Jang-mi has even allowed herself to entertain the possibility of being with Ki-tae, considering how open he has been about using her to push his family away.

After getting so hurt by her ex, I think she's directed her feelings towards the "safer" man in YR. Even though he may be sketchier than Ki-tae, Jang-mi doesn't have the depth of feelings towards him, so even if they don't work out, she will not end up quite as heartbroken. With Ki-tae, I think that she instinctually knows that if she falls down that rabbit hole, she is going to fall hard and fast.

That's how I interpret the situation anyway. He continues to protect her even though he wants her to look horrible in front of his family.. It feels like he unconsciously protects and sincere for each action she is force to into.

Marriage Not Dating: Episode 8 » Dramabeans Korean drama recaps

I think what Jang-mi is learning right now is the difference between loneliness and being alone--and conversely, the difference between spending time with someone and experiencing emotional intimacy with someone. Unless she embraces and accepts her own aloneness, she will keep filling the void with empty superficial relationships rather than true intimacy. Right now, Yeo Reum is offering her his physical presence and some light companionship, but what she has with Ki-tae is true emotional intimacy.

I think she's just really kind and just cared for GT at this moment. The realization, not quite there yet. It's just that JM understands GT's sentiments on being alone and she's helping him to get that and nothing more than that. Remember how HD and JM part ways? I think she doesn't want to experience that again. Love isn't voluntary most of the time You wrote it like she had a choice to like who she likes--one can like someone, but choose not to act on it.

The difference is that she chooses differently this time around. I still got the stronger impression that she likes and is invested in GT romantically, but that she rather push those feelings down and bury herself in YR. In doing so, she's acting "cool" towards GT, which is kinda driving him crazy I love how he finally admitted if only to himself that he wasn't okay at the end. Also so happy that he fell for her first bc this is a mess of his own making. That scene in the in his living room with the three of them was one of my favourite parts of the episode. They had this odd makeshift family feel and I love shows that do that.

Oh, thanks for articulating what is one of my favourite kdrama things that I didn't have a way of describing: I love shows that do that too, so I was in my bliss during the living room scene. GF - Thanks for the recap. It is so perfectly written. From the the French movie suggestion -ooh la la - to the call backs from earlier eps to your final comments.

Reading all of this is so satisfying. It flows beautifully and I am envious of how easy it looks. I know that you have have been doing this for years and keep getting better at it He is exactly what JM wants right now, so let her have him. Did you not see how happy she was with her little head on his shoulder? Is she going to run off and live with him forever and ever? GT is lovely lovely lovely, I agree, but he is not emotionally available to JM, yet.

Even though he ran ran ran to rescue her in the clinic, his first impulse was NOT to reach down and hug her, but to scold her. He didn't even think of it. It was the same after the typhoon episode. At the suju tent, she sat in front of him with tears running down her face and he just kept correcting her behavior.

That is what he thinks she needs right now. To some degree he is right. He knows that if she stuck up for herself, she wouldn't have pooped her pants or wouldn't have been run ragged by Auntie. He is playing long game strategy with her so she won't need YR's short game strategy - comfort for her mistakes. She needs both boys right now. Thing is - One of them can change and become a better partner for her. One of them isn't wise enough to know he needs to change to be a long term partner.

It's in GT's hands. Like GF said, he has to choose to be "someone who might actually risk his pride for love. While I am nodding along with most of what you said I'd also say aybe it's not totally because he's "emotionally unavailable":. IF he is that emotionally unavailable - I doubt he'd even scold. That's too much effort. He will just be detached. Blame it on his family and upbringing - do you see his mom running in to hug and comfort or scold first? Let's see - he is not emotionally ready to make a physical or public-can-see connection - yet - and hides his feelings behind bluster.

A bit off-topic, but I was wondering why this drama is not listed under the "Currently Airing" sidebar. Actually, I see that Friday shows are not even on the list.

http://t2.swirlonthru.com/4097.php Korea's "prime time" does not include Fridays? I loved how off-kilter GT was at the beginning of the episode in the restaurant when he's uncomfortably talking to JM and picks up the empty glass to take a sip only to realize that it's empty! Maybe it's still a newish time slot on the Korean programming schedule? I remember reading that the new cable channels were experimenting with different slots.

For introducing me too Yeon Woojin. And that it is possible for a drama to be ridiculously hilarious but also heart thumping at the same time. Han yeo reum is lack of expression.. Talk about polar opposites.. A guy who wants to be alone and a girl who can't be alone. Everything about them is opposite each other, even their parents. Her parents fight all the time and I am still wondering what they fight about while his parents have a legitimate issue to be fighting but they don't. What a strange couple. Ok, I seriously want to finish watching this because the male lead is adorable, but this second lead male is totally killing it for me!

He's like the annoying little brother that tags along everywhere. I'm going to have to tune in later, if they make him disappear.

I like them together. I actually think they are soul mates, but since soul mates rarely end up together so I think they would be just bff. But one thing I like in this show I'm rooting for the male lead as much as the second male lead. Love your recaps and comments. By that I mean, every other character has played with the comedic elements of their characters and situations.

Even Hyun Hee did a little during her first and second meeting of Hoon Dong. The actress' delivery in that scene lacked any comedic element. Or did I just miss out on a good laugh there? Had she smiled, flirted, or been a tad bit more physical while making the demand, it may have come across that way and better followed the tone of the rest of the drama. I also hope we get a little more backstory on why for her it has to be Gong Gi Tae. Yeah, I always feel like she's pulling Gi Tae's chain whenever she asks him to do something totally ridiculous, like that's her weird way of flirting with him or something.

Osts of this drama are great!! Thank you girlfriday for the recap! I am starting to love this show more than I should! Thank you for the recap. I am enjoying this series. KDaddict July 26, at 1: Because of Reasons July 26, at 7: KDaddict July 26, at 8: Nicki July 26, at Maybe if YR was a better actor, but urgh No fear of 2nd lead syndrome here! I see ur point there. Thanks for the recap! Aww her and Yeo-reum are awfully cute together. A few months later, a now-showing Hyun-hee watches a new chef cook in their restaurant, and Yeo-reum tells Jang-mi that this is his replacement.

He offers to sell her his recipes and bids her farewell, and in voiceover she says that this goodbye was the beginning of the wedding trouble. She tells Dad to take responsibility for his love, and find fulfillment. Ki-tae and Jang-mi enjoy a candlelit bubble bath together the night before their wedding. Jang-mi tells Ki-tae he looked like a wet rat the first time she saw him from his date that threw water on him , but agrees that he looked so sexy that she threw the juice on him later just to see him all wet and sexy again.

They reminisce over all the key points of their relationship, teasing and joking adorably. Jang-mi says she likes the small tub, and they canoodle as she says in voiceover that at that point, they still trusted each other. Jang-mi argues that the forecast predicted it would clear up, and the bride gets her way so the umbrellas come down. Yeo-reum approaches them and grabs Ki-tae in a bear-hug when Ki-tae pouts that he only greeted Jang-mi. Yeo-reum escorts Jang-mi to her waiting room, and Ki-tae overhears him say something about wiring money and gets suspicious. Se-ah comes to congratulate Jang-mi, who jokes that her mother loves her new breast but her dad loves it more, hee.

Ki-tae greets the wedding guests and gets glomped by an overly-enthusiastic Hoon-dong, cute where he and his mother are grilled by the female family members over her divorce and his not inviting his father. Dad shows up and Mom admits to having invited him, but Hyun-hee comes to get Ki-tae before he can address any of this.

They and every single wedding guest look to where Se-ah is sitting, looking very cuddly with the 3D technology sales rep on her arm. All of the wedding guests run for cover, leaving Ki-tae and Jang-mi to stand in the rain at the altar all alone. Jang-mi says in voiceover that in life, the worst things happen during the best times, but you can get through life because the best things also come with the worst.

Soaked and deserted by family and friends, Ki-tae and Jang-mi just look at each other and begin to laugh. They exchange wedding rings in the pouring rain, as Jang-mi thinks how marriage involves not just them, but both of their families. There will be lots of family issues, but marriage is worth it to be together. This goes for the parents as well as the leads, because none of them really changed dramatically; they only learned to accept themselves and take responsibility for their own happiness. Nobody had to have a personality transplant in order for someone to love them… yes they all changed some, but they just became better versions of themselves.

Before, their quirks and hangups were holding them back, but they learned to take those qualities in themselves and use them in a positive way instead of letting the personality trait be in control. Instead of giving Jang-mi personal satisfaction, this just led to her being dismissed and overlooked by her friends and family. But I believe that even though he did a lot of growing, Ki-tae still stayed essentially himself through the course of the show… he simply learned how to turn his protective instincts to the people he loves rather than keep it all for himself.

But the best thing about this entire show has always been the focus on family. None of us live in a vacuum and, good or bad, our families shape and define who we are. Jang-mi and Ki-tae were dysfunctional because their families were dysfunctional — but rather than fighting the future in-laws for control like so many drama characters, they actually drew those families in and worked on healing them.

But they learned how to love and accept one another in spite of that, and maybe even because of that. The best dramas are ones that not only make you laugh and root for the characters, but make you feel something special, and I think I can confidently say that this show did that and did it well. It is in some ways the least romantic and most realistic of depictions since we have characters who run the gamut from happily wed, happily divorced, to some whose marriages resemble war buddies who are in it till the end because no one else would know their pain.

This series is a standout among rom-coms for its fresh take on contemporary romance, its flawed characters who were allowed to remain flawed, and the lovely sense of humor that the writer and director shared—there was a cohesion in the writing and directing that was palpable, in that we were made to feel all of the right beats in all the right ways, which is actually rare. I loved the setup, but it started to drive me nuts the way we felt trapped there.

The series was at its best early on, when the humor crackled and the couple was forced to act loving on the surface while antagonism brewed underneath. But once they started using it to misrepresent scenes altogether with footage that was a direct lie, it stopped being clever and felt manipulative; they lost meaning when I could only start counting them as fantasy sequences. At least the finale went out on the kind of cold open I had loved early on. Marriage Not Dating was a relative success for tvN it reached a high of 4.

I love watching actors grow role by role, and these two had such a fantastically timed growth spurt in the same drama opposite one another. It underscored that the secondary loveline in the drama—between Jang-mi and her future mother-in-law—was something that changed Mom as a daughter-in-law as well. I loved that the familial thread ran through the show from beginning to end, and that despite the romance being the hook, family is what we end on.

Your email address will not be published. I will miss this drama a lot. Can't believe it's over.. Watch her in 'Warm Words'.. She's the only reason i keep watching the show.

While I found the show entertaining. I didn't actually like a single one of the characters, and especially Gong Gi Tae. In that last episode his attempts to cheer her up or whatever it was he was doing when trying to force to her to eat and joke around with him and talk about marriage when she's trying to find her father to tell him her mother has cancer were appalling!

And that thing with the letter - what gives him the right to open her mother's private letter, read the contents, steal it, and then refuse to let her daughter see it? I would have ripped him a new one right there. I will say the product placement for the LG portable photo printer in the last episode totally got me. I immediately looked it up and may still buy it I bought LG G3 after watching this drama when I saw the printer.. If I found out my mother had cancer, I'd love to have Gong Ki-tae there doing all those things for me: I mean, making sure I eat, holding my hand, and then staying with my father and comforting him all night?

I couldn't ask for anything more. Mostly because all that those things really show is that he's trying, that he's worried for me and that in itself is something lovely even if he doesn't know exactly how to convey it perfectly. Although, I personally think him going out of his way to mend the relationship between Jang-mi's parents is a pretty wonderful way to convey how much he cares for them, but that's just me: The fact that he did all those things is just his way of showing love and concern to the ones he care for.

It may not be super romantic, but that just makes him, him. Thank you DB for the recaps. I appreciated it so much. This one of the less-buzzed drama when it began but ended with a bang. I have to agree that the second leads with the exception of Hoon Dong, he's such dork didn't contribute as much as to the awesomeness of this series but the families made up for them esp GT's mom. Yay, the three women being together forget dad, girl power FTW. And don't make me start with the wedding. If it ended with a simple wedding, it's not MND. The kiss at the end perfectly wraps up their story and now that's a kiss.

I agree that the big weakness in this show were the second leads, Se Ah and YR. Neither one of these characters were written particularly well - their motives were fuzzy, and they hanged allegiances and directions without notice or reason. But the acting was also very poor - both characters were played by idols, with little acting experience, and it showed. Both of them were more concerned with looking good than showing some real emotion, and neither of them were able to give any unspoken clues about their character. I got so sick of their plastic, enigmatic smiles. I understood the rest of the characters, I felt like they were real people, and then there was Ken and Barbie.

Thanks for the recaps guys! I still have to catch up on the drama, but I did read all the recaps. I can say I am pretty much satisfied with the ending: D Gi Tae and Jang Mi made one awesome pair! This drama was very fresh and funny. This adds onto my list of most fave dramas. Gonna watch out for the leads from now on, they were fun to watch. Was consistent from start to finish. Watching this became a bonding time with my wife who kept on nagging me to check whether the latest episode was already out. This was also a great consolation after being disappointed so much with Doctor Stranger not that they have any relation.

Good directing, writing, and most of all, good actors. This drama did not have any pretensions at being life-like, or having any deep meaning. It never attempted to moralize or to stylize the scenes again, unlike Doctor Stranger. It was just plain heartwarming, and hilarious and insightful towards the end. Congratulations to all the production staff and the cast.

Will look forward to another drama by the same actors. Incidentally, am not Korean. But I am beginning to love Korean culture and actors. Have watched tons of Korean dramas. Thank you as well to all who do the subs. Looking forward to visit Korea with my wife one day. MND was a good drama. I started off loving it but midway it lost its addictiveness to me and it wasn't as funny as it used to be. They took too long to have the OTP start dating and the angst and the two leads going around in circles aggravated me to no end. In spite of all of this I still liked this drama and when the leads did get together they were magic on screen.

They have such wonderful chemistry, I hope they are able to reunite in another drama or movie someday. The ending left me wanting more, idk I just didn't like the ending that much even though that kiss was amazing. They kept mentioning a plot twist so much that I thought it was going to be something epic, but all it was was whats her name getting knocked up by that one doctor guy. That was a let down.

However, I loved that Gi Tae's mom found her happiness in the end. Her husband's family screwed her up so badly that it's understandable why she acts the way she does. Overall I enjoyed this drama even if some of my love for it at the beginning wore off towards the end. It's still one of the best rom-coms of for me and I will put it on my repeat list for rainy days. Even though I love this show which has ne comparing it to coffee prince.. I understand girlfriend take on the cold scene in the beginning.. With everything else showing now.. I can't even get through half the episodes without folding it in but I have been waiting and even watching without subs since I was so anxious for this show..

Probably the best thing for this ending was that not everyone got redeems in some unreasonable way.. Thank you Lollypip and girlfriday for the great and heartfelt recaps. Love this series so much but wished we had more time to just savor the OST relationship for a little longer. As well as seeing Ki-tae's dad suffer a whole lot more.

And by the way, what with Jang-Mi's mom, yikes!! What a whiny self centered woman! I really loved the OTP, but the scene that by far made me grin the most was the one where the 3 women collectively kicked dad to the curb. I didn't think he had it in him. Thank you guys so much for the great recaps and insight you've provided and to all the commenters who left such great comments about the show as well.

You two said what I wanted to say and more so much better than I ever could have, especially your last lign here, girlfriday, ha. I'm going to miss this show so much, especially the lead couple. They had so many adorable, sweet, wonderful and heartfelt moments in the last few episodes and it was a joy to witness them grow as people and as a couple. The actors did a fabulous job with these roles and they've definitely put those two on the map for me. And because I didn't get to comment on it in the last recap, I still love, love, LOVE the moment between Kitae and his mother on the phone and the ones here between KiTae's mom, aunt and halmoni.

I love how much this show emphasised the importance of family. It did a tremendous job of showcasing that even if they're dysfunctional and you're not close to them - your family still shapes you into who you are in a big way. It was wonderful seeing the love between the women in KiTae's family and seeing his father get his comeuppance and Mom get her fire back.

I was waiting for that. Just like how JangMi's parents made a scene at the hospital while making up - seeing that made me realize that she got her "scene-making" ways from them. I also loved the realism in their decision to get married. They know firsthand just how badly marriages can go but even so, they're still willing to give it a try and try their best to love and support each other despite whatever twists life may throw at them.

I also loved the cleverness in the writing, the crazy sound effects, the awesome ost and the cute effects on screen. When this drama started I forgot about it and all the news that were posted here. I was just checking viki and it appeared, I read the description and watched episode 1. This drama made me laugh, even cry a little and made me care for many of the characters. Ki-tae and Jang-mi are so good and so cute together, and I only can agree, the family aspect in this drama is one of its strongest angles. Maybe is not a perfect drama but the crazy second lead and the flaws here and there never made me abandon it, because I was so in love with the good stuff that I could pass through that.

I still can't believe that this drama is over. I'm so going to miss it. Been playing the OSTs over and over again. It's my first time seeing Han Groo act and I'm even surprised because she's so young! Her acting is on point and she's so good at comedy. Yeon Woo Jin's characters are so scary and he was a killer in Arang but the first time I saw him was in Ojakgyo Brothers and from then on, I knew he'd do well in a rom com.

I admit that this drama kinda bored me halfway through it and I actually stopped watching. I had to catch up on 4 episodes at once. It's the 2nd leads. I love Sunhwa and Jinwoon but omg their characters are so annoying. Then the bestfriend was just annoying too. Still, I enjoyed the drama and it was a fun watch among all the dramas airing now.

Gi Tae's "I know that there's no such thing as love that last forever. Despite that, I want to try loving you forever. T like seriously, no kidding. Usually, I get bored half way through and find myself FF all the annoying and useless bits. But I thoroughly enjoyed each and every episode of this one! I mean, they are pretty annoying at times. But somehow I get the satisfaction of seeing the leads jealous of seeing one another with their own respective cockblocker hahaha. If we were to compare, there are definitely many more worse second leads out there. The one thing I truly appreciate about the show is how it works so well to build up relationships so realistically, whether it is between a mother and son, mother and daughter-in-law, husband and wife etc.

The last episode wrapped up things pretty nicely. Loved the scene between grandma, aunt and mom. Crying and hugging each other, leaving cheating dad gobsmacked whilst they celebrate living together hahaha. Seriously, those two are amazing. Yeon Woo Jin is so damn charming in the show, so much so that I wanna get a Ki-tae myself. A girl can dream. Han Groo did a great job as Jang-mi too.

Her movements are always so dramatic yet still somewhat natural at the same time. Looking forward to see her future projects for sure. This is the best drama I have watched by far! Can't wait for the drama that is supposed to replace it too! Thank you for recaps! And thank you dramagods for such a zippy and hilarious rom-com.

Oh, I must also thank whoever did the sound effects in this show. Gaaah, is it over already?! Also, I don't mind YR at all, I actually feel bad for him because he's super sweet and Jang Mi keeps missing their dates and being a horrible girlfriend. Yes the actor isn't great, but based on the plot, the poor guy is totally getting shafted by JangMi. JangMi - stop playing the 2 guys and figure out what you want! Because that's not who she is. She's a people pleaser. Of course for the sake of the comedy it's turned up to the next level, but there are actually people like that I know some of them , so it's not like the whole idea of it is unbelievable.

And it's not like Jang Mi is doing anything inconsistent with what has been shown to be her character. I notice that you keep asking why don't the characters do this and why don't they do that The simple answer is because if they did, they would be different characters and this would be a different story. And obviously one more to your liking. If a viewer is halfway through the show's run and they still can't reconcile themselves to Jang Mi being a pushover and Gi Tae being emotionally backward, then maybe it's just a case that this isn't the show for them.

I think you are right about the "people pleaser" syndrome she has.

Marriage Not Dating: Episode 7. by girlfriday. There are so many love geometries in this drama that it's a wonder how anyone remains friends. Marriage Not Dating: Episode 8 That lasted less than 7 weeks. have KT drive quite so recklessly in episode 7 on his way to rescue JM.

And she does not realize yet just how crazy it can drive people around you. Many years ago, in another life, I had a girl I was going with who was positively afraid of even saying what she liked or not - I never knew where she stood on anything, and it drove me crazy. That lasted less than 7 weeks. KT's mom has decades of manipulating experience, Jang-Mi has close to zero.

But I think that Jang Mi is learning fast, at least I hope so. OMG SeAh is getting on my nerves. I was so surprised when I looked her up. She is Jenny from God's gift. Regardless, though she needs to lose the "I am gonna keep using the flashdrive card to get what I want. I am getting to the point that I fast forward through her scenes when she's wallowing in self pity. Sorry for this rant. Other than that, I love this drama so much. I cannot believe it is so funny. And, evolving very well. I can't wait for the evolution of that one cold open.

Se ha hasn't had as much screen time but I'm not hating her character.. If she was truthful and admitted that she was hurt it would be a different story.. I would agree with you There isn't really any coming back from that, imo. I am loving this series the last scene broke my heart when she went to YR but I guess this is the first step she is taking and going with her heart.

I just hope she realizes in the next episode that her heart is with GT as I cannot watch any more scenes with her and YR. I dont know if they're fully in love or what, but they seriously care for each other that it's hurting me too haha. Gi Tae made quite clear he quite liked her from a few eps back and Jang Mi also worries about him. But when Ki Tae was taken aback by her beauty and feeling bad for the situation, and Jang Mi cried when she heard Yeo Rum instead of Ki Tae say the words, it's quite a done deal. I'm not losing faith in Mum just yet.

I dont know why but from the beginning i had this feeling - maybe she sees herself in Jang Mi that she wants to save Jang Mi from whatever hell the family has in store so that JM doesnt suffer like her. Gaaaaah, Ki Tae saying he hates the beach but that's exactly what he does next episode when he chases after the bride and her runaway lover!

In the beginning of the preview Hoon Dong is there too, but then we see Se Ah after that. Well, may not be quite the trip she wanted with Ki Tae, but it's something! Haha, I really hope she stops being manipulative and maybe she can just be a friend that makes KT realise that not telling your feelings for the sake of pride is no use.

Oh and if the episode is gonna be full of our leads playing the jealousy shenanigans, I'm soooo in. This is gonna be fun, cant wait till next week!!! I agree with you, diba. We may be misinterpreting her words and actions around and about GT and JM. Of all the characters, JM is the only one who tries to talk sense to her. JM's biggest weakness is she wants to understand and please everyone.

She sees KT Oma as sad and lonely and wants to help. While JM lets herself be pushed around, when it gets to shove, she rallies and pushes back.

I think he meant those things because he wants her to take the steps to protect herself. Yep, I got the uncomfortable feeling she was lying through her teeth this whole episode. Hoon-dong picks up Hyun-hee with his mother in tow, and they stop at a restaurant where his mom says Hyun-hee is pregnant and her parents are gone so someone should take care of her. I think that this is such an important turning point for our leads though. But still, I would like for Jang-Mi to let herself grow into the woman that she is meant to become in the next remaining episodes.

I loved the interaction, for example, in front of KT's house between them. THAT's the best reason you can come up with? Not, that SA is a bright little thing whose company you enjoy? She IS pushing her out of the nest before JM has time to get hurt. I would love just an episode with only Jang-mi and Ki-tae in it. Put them in a room, and give me an hour of honest conversation between these two. That would make me happy and less seething. I really like this show, but I'm at the point of beyond frustration.

We're halfway through now, and yet I feel no forward movement. Jang-mi and Ki-tae have not professed their feelings in fact, I have yet to see more recent signs from Jang-mi of her feelings , his mom has gotten worse sadly, and I agree that her character would be wasted if she continues down this typical mother-in-law path , second-lead guy remains uninteresting and ineffectual take him out, and I wouldn't even notice , and background characters have seemingly disappeared even resident bitch, Se-ah, had little screen time. And I would've been fine with that ending scene if she hadn't just run off in the wedding dress.

I get the drama of it, but it felt silly to me. I totally jinxed myself when I said it couldn't lose steam. I'm feeling it, but I'm still hopeful that this second half will gear up and charge forward. The drama's funny as hell, and i'm loving the whole plot but really, i'm hoping for progress.. Plus, tbh if i'm in jang mi's shoes right now, i'll prolly not fall for Gi tae at all. That last scene was so painful to watch.

I thought it was interesting to note than Jang Mi was doing fine in the wedding dress shop until she called Ki Tae to come help and got Se-ah instead, going on about waiting for him to wash up and whatnot. I think that played a big role in that big question she asked "who am I doing this for? Then she runs out and there he is and she's "standing in front of the guy" and she realizes she desperately wants HIM to do or say something to make her feel better and they're having their moment.

And the mom duo I'm angry with JM's mom too come in and she just wants to get out of there. Then YR is there to be her escape and do more of the grand romantic gestures she wants from her love in theory but in reality it's not him she wants it from. I really can't wait for next episode.

I wish I'd found this drama later so I wouldn't have to wait D: Thanks for the recap Lollypip! I thought those two scenes were important to jang mi breaking apart and jus running off in the opposite direction.. I like that when kt tells her to stand up she listens to his suggestions instead of always pleasing people.. I can totally see why she ran in that direction. Gi Tae - argggh he didn't grab her! The fact Se-Ah can still come and go as she pleases, and climb onto his car YR - while his ever present smile is somewhat sickening, I can't say I immensely dislike him either.

Lollypip ur right about the whole self-respect thing! She has no self-respect and her parents don't help I hope she gets what's coming her way! I don't know why I keep searching for the next episode when I know it isn't on for a couple more days I am guessing this is not realistic employee behaviour Her boss has pretty much given up on her since she's going to quit to marry a doctor anyway. HD has come for his car so we know he might do a little cockblocking for KT even though crazy cakes Se Ah is still here.

Jang Mi's mom is such an easily swayed character that even though she really should wash her hands of these people , she can easily be convinced to keep the wedding on. It looks like Jang Mi is a little jealous from the way she watches Ki Tae and Se Ah interact and then urges Yeo Reum to do romantic stuff with her, too.

And even though it looks like Jang Mi and Yeo Reum might kiss again, it kinda looks likes she's hesitating so she might pull away or they get interrupted. I think the writer likes Yeo Reum too much because Ki Tae and Jang Mi have really not had enough cute moments yet this smiling asshole gets a scene with her literally every episode. I am expecting JM to pull away or at least for it to happen and her realise there is no chemistry there.. He would just be sitting on the sidelines helping JM with her happiness With him smiling and her glowering at him. Too bad the other characters don't have twitter accounts - a battle of selfies could be hilarious.

Yeoreum and Hoondong are the two accounts that Kitae's account is following. D hund and summer It kind of bothers me that Im Ye Jin plays the same type of mother in almost every drama. I know there's a formula and this is Dramaland but I just want the mother in this drama to stand up for her child. There's no way I'd let someone do that to my daughter, in-laws or not.

Socio-economic status be darned. I can see how Jang Mi might get railroaded into it for a while, but I thought it was really sad how KT's mom also walked over her mom. And even worse was how JM's mom just put up with it all - makes me wonder if JM got some of her characteristics from her mother. I can't believe I'm now once again stuck in an ongoing drama.

The pain of waiting for another week.. Aside from the hysterical banter and nice chemistry and all the nice things this drama has to offer, I think I got sucked into it more than I originally planned to because I can somehow relate to Jang Mi for wanting to please everyone but herself. I don't know if it's just me being a smarty ass-wannabe but as an only child, I share that as well. There's this belief in between us the only child ren that we are somehow expected to be spoiled and self centered all the time.

To break the stereotype I try my hardest not to think of my needs and my wishes before I fulfill all of my friends' and my families'. It's simple logic, for me, you know. Which usually, ends up in my getting hurt all by myself as well while none of the others really know how I felt the entire time I was pleasing them. But still, I would like for Jang-Mi to let herself grow into the woman that she is meant to become in the next remaining episodes. And Ki-Tae, oh, Ki-Tae. Do I have a bone to pick on you. You clearly love that girl and you know you do. If he's still acting dumb and pretend like he has no hard feelings in letting Jang-Mi slip away from his hands, then we will seriously have a problem to discuss next week, dude.

Break my back and go out of my way to make things perfect for my mother, or other people You can see so many different emotions flash through GT's face during the last scene. JM only wanted to hear, "You look pretty" from her love, but his eyes said so much more than that! If only he had voiced it out. Alas, that's why the writers write and we watch avidly. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next week! Thanks for the awesome recap as always, LollyPip. I kept refreshing this page after watching ep. Has a drama ever been so good and so infuriating at teh same time? I still love this show, but I'm beginning to get a little frustrated with Jang-mi.

It's just that she's affixed her attentions to a new almost as unworthy, imo target. People are split on whether they like Yeo-reum, but I think we can all agree whether good or bad, she basically likes him because he's cute and he said he likes her. Whereas the one she connects with, tells her secrets to, makes herself vulnerable for, is actually Gi-tae. You hit it right on the nose when you said that what she needs is to start respecting herself.

Not in relation to Gi-tae, but with his mom, with Yeo-reum, with everyone else. What she doesn't understand is a life lesson we all have to learn at some point - that being too nice will get you walked all over, and that you have to love and respect yourself if you want others to love and respect you. Even though it crushed both my and Gi-tae's heart. This week left me so frustrated. I feel like the whole time, all Gi Tae does is let Yeo Reum snake his hero moments! First with the hug when Jang Mi was locked in his office, and then at the end of this episode when all she wanted to hear was that she was pretty!!

When she ran to Han Yeo Reum, I seethed so much. I agree with some of the other people who have pointed out that it was after she talked to Se Ah that she got fed up and it wasn't until Se Ah came and stood next to Ki Tae that she ran into Yeo Reum's well, Hoon Dong's car so it's most likely jealousy on top of the stress from KT's mom that drove her to him.

Sink to the bottom of the ocean and get eaten by a cracken. Ki Tae's twitter account updated with some selca's of our OTP at the beach so I'm looking forward to some hilarity as well as Se Ah taking the hint that he doesn't care about her since he refused to go to the beach until that was where Jang Mi was She seemed jealous in the preview, telling Yeo Reum to "do romantic stuff like them" which seemed to be like showing off that they were just as lovey dovey to piss of Ki Tae.

If so, I'm totally on board for the next episode! Remember how in ep. I guess they thought it would be a cute PR thing to have the account be real so all the pics are up there. There are 3 pics from ep. I'm pretty sure only Ki Tae has one, though it would be adorable if they made one for all the characters and did little conversations to give us hints for the new episodes or stuff like that.

Hands down, my favorite show right now. I had high hopes for the Crazy Mom - JangMi line to flesh out, but also had a tough time empathizing with CM this episode. I have been waiting for this recap so I can put my two cents in! Am I the only one who is pissed off at the kdrama world right now?? Those darn ex girlfriends!!!

They are just so weird Now she wants to shoe her true feelings? If I met someone like her You wonder why your son does not respect you! I'm right there with you about Dramaland this week. I've also had it up to here with our exes in most of the Dramas I'm watching simulcast glad Joseon Gunman doesn't have this situation because I just know Se Ra in Fated is about to throw some unhappy at the leads in that. I'm hopeful that this coming week the writers step up the cute couple time for our main pair!

Forced trip to the gyno shoulda been a deal breaker. Demanding she quit her job shoulda been deal breaker 2. I think my favorite part of this episode was the silent conversation JM and GT were having at the dinner table with the family. The facial expressions are priceless. Does anyone else think that GT and JM are going to find what they need in a parental figure in each other's parents and not their own?

Unfortunately, Ki Tae doesn't want to admit to her yet so he instead talks down to her or yells at her whereas, Yeo Reum seems romantic and more attentive to her which is the opposite of Ki Tae. Then Ki Tae and Se-Ah showed up together at the wedding dress shop afterwards, so what is the poor girl going to think? Her dream was to have the person she love tell her she was pretty in her wedding dress, but he drags his former girlfriend with him there. Even I would run away from him. Hopely, Ki Tae fesses up and stop making Jang Mi go nuts with his pushy mom.

Even though his family may be rich, they are definitely not all that great a family to marry into. I think Ki Tae's mom is spooky. It was so weird that jang mi wasn't smiling or giggly when she was reminded of the kiss when talking to kt like she was with hyun hee.. It seem like she was either saving herself or his feelings which gave me hope throughput the episode..

The scene of them scheming and plotting to stop kt mom in front of yr because she totally forgets yr when she is enjoying her time with kt.. I wanted more scenes of them alone but now yr seems to be in every shot.. His actions aren't always right but he seems to be turning the tide.. Once he stops using her for his own gain will she realize that he truly cares for her..

With the previews from recent episodes they always trick or turn the situation like the we starting our love today which turn out to be a joke.. I hope theses previews are the same. It's been a while. Why is it not Friday yet!? Also, Jang Mi is adorable. First time I've seen Han Groo in anything, and I totally have a drama crush going. The problem with Jang Mi is that she is such a people pleaser. She knows she's in a fake relationship and she has free reign on making herself look bad in front of the in-laws but she just can't do it.

I keep waiting for more backstory about KT's house situation and why he wants to be alone so badly. I think when he shares that with JM it will be a turning point in their relationship. I also miss their banter about relationships and if being alone or with someone is better. The way YR said that JM had fallen for the story about being abandoned by his mother made him look so bad. He seems willing to use whoever he needs at the moment. JM looks too adoringly at him right now for me to see how they are going to switch it over to KT quickly and that makes me sad.

See, I saw that as YR defaulting back to 'keep it light' in order to avoid being hurt. Remember his line from before about how if he's serious, people tell him he's being too heavy. For me, this scene reinforced how much he and Jang Mi are alike, in that they shape themselves to be what other people expect.

Both of them learned this as a survival trait - it's just that YR is better at it because he grew up without parents, unlike Jang Mi's loving - if incompetent - family. Some thoughts on the last 2 episodes: In the end it's not too big of a deal, but the scene would have resonated with me more had he just been speeding and was shown to be frustrated and impatient when hitting red lights I mean her life wasn't in any actual danger. Made it too dramatic imo, what with their choice in music and having the table along with the soup topple over under JM's weight as she searched for her phone.

That might have been true to some extent, but she was probably more confused and upset that while she's having to go through all of what she's been going through, he's doing god knows what with a person that has a lot to do with why they're doing all of the fake relationship stuff in the first place. All this probably had a lot to do with why she wondered "why, and for whom, am i standing here" and then ran off. I think some people have a problem with how they had her just run off in the dress, but really, she finally cracked and just wanted out then and there without having to say anything or explain herself or deal with any more of KT's mom's shit.

I guess KT and her could have driven away together, leaving everybody else behind, but this just wouldn't have made any sense for JM's character at this point. Though maybe that's what would have happened if YR hadn't been there. She's maybe wondering what the hell she's been thinking, to have let their fake marriage progress to this point I hope she still thinks that the relationship was fake from the start and that his feelings have developed along the way and are one sided Either way she's a crappy mom, but at least in this situation she wouldn't be trying to break up a real relationship between her son and a girl that actually loves him.

She really is being unbearably terrible to JM, and I did enjoy the unlikely family situation of sorts that the 3 main characters had going on in parts of these episodes. I agree with you on the car crying scene. I think everything just hit her at once, and being told she was pretty was just the final trigger. Spot on analysis of Jang-mi at the end here.

She needs to stand up for herself! She deserves to take care of herself, and have others take care of her. She was misled to think that KT was with SeAh. I think that was the breaking point for her, for why she chose to go with YR. She should've have listened to gt when he asked her if yr asked to officially date.

If a guy wants you, the first thing he wants to do is take you off the market. So what if he said he likes you and kissed you already. That's why even though the show has them dating it feels like they're just close friends hanging out. Yr is too smiley and too into keeping things light. I also don't get why he even dating jm. If he was perceptive enough to know that gt was sincere but jm wasn't, then by now he must know they're both sincere with each other. That more than likely, gt and jm feelings are mutual just that jm doesn't realized her true feelings yet. Come on, whenever the three of them are in s room, he's suddenly the odd man out when ft and jm.

Unless he doesn't want to admit that there can be a woman to slip out his grasp since he grabs so much attention wherever he goes. And jm mom at the bridal shop pissed me off. How can she just agree with gt's mom like that? How can she not defend and support her daughter? Must she watch say yes to the dress to see how it's done? Unless he don't want to admit there can be a woman who's not really interested in him because he grabs people's attention wherever he goes.

And jm mom pissed me off at the bridal shop. How can she just go along and agree with gt mom in tearing down her own daughter? How can she not defend and support jm? Does she need to watch and study say yes to the dress to see how it's done? I can't stand YR like seriously. I'm not exactly sure if its the actor or his character since I hated his appearance on RM too. I really wish KT could stand up to his mom like "hey, are you happy now that my bride ran away with another guy? All the craziness you've been shoving down her throat serves no purpose but drown and break her down into a woman unwilling to marry your son.

Isn't her a living example? I don't get it sometimes, do mother-in-laws in KDrama always do this? Mistreated and knowing how awful it felt but still continuing the cycle and inflicting the things they hated on someone else? I just want my OTP. So many feelings over the ending, I just can't say anymore. I am just gonna add I am freakin' dying. I can't with the second leads anymore. But damn it, I hate them for cockblocking OTP..

I still freakin' love the show. Han Groo and Yeon Woo Jin are amazing as usual and that damn chemistry of them. Thank you for the recap. Jang Min needs to sit down and think about what she wants to do and her own future. Seems to me she is reacting to all kinds of situation and trying to please everyone. A period away from KT and YR may be good. For some reason, I am not convinced about YR as a character. KT, step out of your comfort zone and grab the nice and real Jang Min before she gets away.
